    Modern Warfare Trial Date Set

Activision v. Infinity Ward scheduled for May. April 10, 2012
    by Andrew Goldfarb

The trial between Activision and Infinity Ward has been set for May 29, 2012.

The trial was originally set for May 7th but has been delayed at the request of Activision. Three different lawsuits have been folded into the trial, including Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella alleging that Activision owes them substantial royalty payments and a group of Infinity Ward employees suing for unpaid bonuses.

West and Zampella allege that Activision avoided paying royalties owed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by firing them, while the Infinity Ward Employee Group (made up of nearly 40 people) is asking for bonuses they claim Activision withheld in order to "force" them to continue working at Infinity Ward. The trial will also include Activision's lawsuit against rival Electronic Arts.

The suit alleges that EA "conspired" with West and Zampella to "inflict serious harm" to the Call of Duty franchise.

After departing Infinity Ward, West and Zampella went on to form Respawn Entertainment. Respawn's first game will be published by EA and is rumored to be coming in 2013. Source: Game Informer
